NSF Leaders to Headline Fireside Chat at QWC 2025 on Dual Strategy for Quantum Innovation
Connected DMV today announced that Erwin Gianchandani, Assistant Director for Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (TIP) and David B. Berkowitz, Assistant Director for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) at the National Science Foundation (NSF), will headline a fireside chat at Quantum World Congress 2025 in Greater Washington.
The session, “From Discovery to Deployment: NSF’s Dual Strategy for Quantum Innovation and Partnership,” will take place on Thursday, September 18, at 1:00 PM (ET).
As the nation’s leading science agency, NSF is advancing a comprehensive approach to quantum: from Berkowitz’s leadership of MPS, supporting foundational research in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and materials science to Gianchandani’s stewardship of TIP, accelerating use-inspired research, technology translation, and partnerships. Together, their directorates fuel an innovation pipeline that ensures groundbreaking quantum discoveries move rapidly from the lab to real-world deployment.
"NSF is a key driving force behind America's national quantum initiative and our strategic advantage in this defining technology race. This session reveals how research excellence and targeted partnerships converge to secure continued U.S. quantum dominance," said George Thomas, President and CEO of Connected DMV. "These two senior NSF leaders will provide our audience with unprecedented insight into how America's discovery engine and commercialization strategy work in concert to strengthen our global quantum edge."
Quantum World Congress, hosted by Connected DMV, brings together the global quantum ecosystem, spanning research, industry, investment, government, and policy, to accelerate collaboration and innovation. The 2025 convening will be held September 16–18 at Capital One Hall in Tysons, Virginia.
