Labescape at QWC 2025

Labescape: The quantum science escape room

LabEscape, a science-outreach effort of the Physics Department at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, is the world's first science-based escape room. Since 2016 we've been showing participants that science can be relevant, accessible, beautiful and fun, as we give them a taste of what it's like to be a scientist, the importance of curiosity, communication and collaboration, and the promise of quantum technology. With over 16,000 agents to date, and over 98% 5-star ratings, we're happy that over 97% of recent STEM participants surveyed that they had discovered something new about science. The entire storyline is quantum-themed -- in the latest mission participants must use a quantum computer to devise a cure for a terrible memory-erasing virus! As an event for the International Year of Quantum, LabEscape will be running free missions at the Quantum World Congress — book your adventure today!
