IonQ Leadership at QWC 2023: Getting Ready for the Era of Enterprise-Grade Quantum Computers

IonQ's Peter Chapman and Dr. Jungsang Kim spoke during the general session of Quantum World Congress 2023 on "Getting Ready for the Era of Enterprise-Grade Quantum Computers" and unveiled several large IonQ announcements.

Peter Chapman is President and CEO of IonQ, the leader in universal quantum computing. Previously, Peter was Director of Engineering for Amazon Prime. He has over 40 years of leadership in software engineering, from when he began his career at 16 working with Marvin Minsky in the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab. Shortly after the sale of his last company, Peter came out of an early retirement to help build tools for the blind at the helm of Ray Kurzweil's company, K-NFB Reading Technologies. Peter has had a lifelong interest in AI and one of the reasons he joined IonQ is because he believes that quantum computing may have an important part in solving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and many other important problems facing mankind.

Jungsang Kim, Ph.D. is a Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of IonQ, which he founded with his long-time colleague, Chris Monroe, to commercialize quantum computers. IonQ is the leading provider of quantum computing solutions offering best-in-class quantum computing technology and services. Kim is also a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics and Computer Science at Duke University, where he has led many collaborative research and development projects at the frontier of foundational quantum computing technologies since 2004. Prior to joining Duke University, Kim was a Technical Manager and a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories between 1999-2004. There, he led a team to develop the world’s largest optical cross connect switch for optical communications, as well as digital antenna technology for improving in-building coverage of cellular phones and data services in the wireless communication network. Kim holds a BS degree from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. degree from Stanford University, both in Physics.

A special thank you Peter Chapman, Dr. Jungsang Kim, and IonQ for being a platinum sponsor of Quantum World Congress 2023!
